I was working on a Friesan Fire post which will be up on Wednesday morning.

As for Stardom Bound, I'm not sure Dutrow is a lock to actually gain control of her. Certainly, at this point, I can't imagine Frankel is taking orders from Dutrow. If Babe gets his crummy hands on her, forget it.Valerie Grashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02696887655473752690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1354333762076619269.post-10229454450372987342009-02-10T02:37:00.000-05:002009-02-10T02:37:00.000-05:00I don't think enough credit has been given to Frie...I don't think enough credit has been given to Friesen Fire. All he has done is win. I like how he stalks the pace and settles well for the close. His style might fare well in a larger field.

Anyone have an opinion of Mr Fantasy?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1354333762076619269.post-27415630780670752072009-02-10T02:32:00.000-05:002009-02-10T02:32:00.000-05:00Val,Stardom Bound is being trained by Rick Dutrow,...Val,
Stardom Bound is being trained by Rick Dutrow, Jr. even though Bobby Frankel is the trainer of record. Frankel is merely the "eyes" on the backside for Dutrow who calls the shots via phone from GP. In fact, "Babe" was supposed to fly to L.A. for the race but didn't make it.
So, are you still on the S.B. bandwagon?Amateurcapperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00152403396698908900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1354333762076619269.post-57575543648579390262009-02-09T14:33:00.000-05:002009-02-09T14:33:00.000-05:00Well, at least Pioneerof The Nile doesn't have a "...Well, at least Pioneerof The Nile doesn't have a "Z" somewhere in his name.

As for over-entering horses, let's not forget that Robert Lapenta was down to his fourth or fifth-stringer when Da'Tara was entered in the Belmont. You never know who is going to get hot (or in Da'Tara's case, extremely lucky) by the time the races roll around.

Also, Street Sense ran in the Bluegrass in 2007 and he turned out alright. I think Pyro just hit his stride too early in the season and the other Derby starters in the field were pretenders anyway.

Still, if I had a Derby contender, I would avoid the fake surfaces like the plague.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
