Horse Racing Post Card of the Week

In honor of the one-time Kentucky Derby prep race, the Flamingo Stakes, here is a vintage view of old Hialeah Park. My earliest recollection of this track is associated (of course) with Foolish Pleasure, who won the Flamingo Stakes in 1975 enroute to his Derby victory. The following year, his half-brother Honest Pleasure took the prize, and in subsequent years so too did the likes of Seattle Slew, Alydar, Spectacular Bid, and tragically-misfortunate Timely Writer. Hialeah closed in 2001
