Raging Hormones

Well, our favorite pregnant lady did it again. Four-year-old Iron Goddess won her second race in a row—wire to wire—on Wednesday, the $65,000 Stage View Stakes at Belmont. Watch it here. It was also the fastest seven furlongs on turf at Belmont for a female in two years—1:20.90. Damn, I let this one slip under the radar—she paid $53.50 for the win! The only question I have now is—who’s the daddy? So far, news reports are hush-hush on that aspect of the story, leading one to believe Iron Goddess was a very naughty girl around the shed. More later…

Interestingly, Sabellina, who finished fourth, is also in foal, to Pulpit. Her trainer Joe Aquilino has said he is using this race as a training tool for longer races, so put Sabellina in your Virtual Stable to see when she runs next. Those raging hormones may make her a live wire in her next outing!

Love the story of 57-year-old jockey Diane King who won the seventh race at Thistledown on June 18—even with a broken nose.

Just a reminder, TVG’s Fantasy Horse Racing's new game, Road to the Breeder’s Cup, begins June 30, so set up your stable now. It runs through October 27 (Breeders’ Cup Day), and it’s free to enter. First prize is $7,500. If anyone wants to start a private group—say TBA members and readers—and battle stables against one another, let me know.
