Saturday Results

No surprises in most races. Octave won the Mother Goose, and Lava Man squeaked out another Hollywood Gold Cup victory. Forty Grams took the Alysheba, while Strong City finished third. In the Firecracker I had the trifecta, just in the wrong order: Remarkable News, Brilliant, then Outperformance. Corinthian was a huge disappointment in the Suburban, showing nothing. Political Force passed front running Fairbanks in the stretch for the win, with Malibu Moonshine coming up for third.

At Hollywood, Ever So Pretty and Billie Bob sped off to the lead in the Landaluce, but faded to finish sixth and fourth respectively. The favorite Elocution never threatened, finishing fifth. The surprise winner was the unfortunately named The Golden Noodle (D’wildcat-Golden Genie, by Beau Genius), who paid a whopping $68.60 for the win. Treadmill (E Dubai-Lady Lang, by Langfuhr) who went off as second choice at 3-1, finished second, while Set Play (Van Nistelrooy-Boldy’s Reflection, by Bold Ruckus) completed the trifecta. I’m mad at myself for not considering The Golden Noodle and Set Play again here, since I previous pointed them out as horses I liked. I’m also disappointed that Ever So Pretty may indeed have speed, but also the distance limitations of her brother Stormello, and thus will never breakout.
