All I can say about Lawyer Ron’s performance in the G1 Woodward today is DAMN! Okay, I am officially a believer…with two performances like he has just shown, he must be the favorite going into the BC Classic. Sun King ($7.70 place) was a very distant second, followed by Diamond Stripes ($3.50 show) and Corinthian. My other picks Wanderin Boy and Magna Graduate finished at the back of the field after vying for the lead early on.
I nailed the G1 Forego with Midnight Lute…but he went off at 5-2 so lots of people did :( He paid $7.20. Benny the Bull finished a distant second, followed by Attila’s Storm and 68-1 longshot How’s Your Halo. Chatain scratched. High Finance finished 8th in 10-horse field after leading early.
In the G3 Kent, Nobiz Like Shobiz ($4.20) showed real class to nose out Twilight Meteor ($9.60) for the win. Strike a Deal ($2.40) and Summer Doldrums finished third and fourth, respectively.
In the G3 Red Bank, I had Icy Atlantic ($3.60 win) and Baron Von Tap ($3.40 show), but missed Touched By Madness ($9.00 place) in between them. Shake the Bank set the pace as expected, but again tired. Maybe they should just run him in turf sprints?
Wicked Style ($18.00) took the G3 Arlington-Washington Futurity by a head over Riley Tucker ($4.80 place) while Sebastian County ($4.20 show). T. J.’s Posse completed the superfecta. Texas Wildcatter scratched, while favorite Gold Coyote tired badly as did Blackberry Road who had a hellish trip.
