Saturday Results for Presque Isle

Wow, the two-year-old fillies in race 1 totally blindsided me—and most everyone else. Little B Rosson ($108.80 win), Gally’s Way ($12.60 place), and Lively Drop ($15.60 show) resulted in a $1,962.80 $2 exacta, and the $2 tri paid $3,135.20. Damn! Lady Mimi finished just out of the money in fourth. Favorite Perry’s Wish was eased up in stretch, and never finished. No Mas scratched.

And my losing streak continued into race 2, as Coronado’s Strike went to the lead, but was finished after ½ mile, fading to last. Favorite Curtain Bluff “failed to menace” and was ninth in 10-horse field. Rectory Hill was sixth, while Plunder an Pillage missed third by ¾ length. Second-choice Power Jeans ($6.40) won while the two longest shots in the field Third Offense ($11.60 place), and Free to Talk ($11.40 show) rounded out a $1,906.60 trifecta.

Another longshot beat me in race 3—Seattle Spirit ($39.00 win). Drop a Line ($7.40 place) and Strikes of Thunder ($3.00 show) saved me. Both Medousa Storm and Rocketinthegate scratched.

Finally, caught a break in race 4, when Wazoo City ($16.80 win) was placed ahead of Deputy Connor ($3.60) due to disqualification. Talega Creek scratched.

I’m not sure what the hell happened in race 5, but half the field scratched, including Painted Clown and Prize Packet. As I suspected, All Bold needed a race, finishing second as the favorite to Live by Request ($8.60 win); she paid nothing with only four horses going to post.

In race 6, Asmussen wheeled back Ww Conquistador ($2.10) on only two days rest, and he finished third, behind Cold War ($17.60 win)—who set a new track record—and Master Ben ($9.40 place). Man, I don’t what to think about tonight’s results. Gold by Gold finished 7th after leading early on, while No Surgeon was fourth and Imreadyimready fifth.

Glitter Glitter ($24.40 win) saved me in race 7, where the longest longshot finished second—Labeespa Rubia ($25.40 place)—and Now Cope With This ($4.00 show) got third. Coatue finished fourth, just ahead of favorite Angel Island.

In the nightcap, Komax ($4.20 place) gained late for second, while Hammered and Doctor Decherd faded after early speed.
