Bsharp

Congratulations to our favorite connections—trainer Tim Salzman and jock Eric Camacho (of Southwestern Heat fame)—who won the G2 Davona Dale Stakes at Gulfstream today with Bsharpsonata! Going down the backstretch, Bsharpsonata looked hopelessly caught behind horses, but coming around the final turn, she unloaded and soundly defeated the Toddster’s odds-on favorite Game Face who had won the G2 Old Hat here in January. By Pulpit out of the stakes-winning Affirmed mare Apasionata Sonata, this three-year-old filly has stakes wins on both turf and dirt, dry and wet. After breaking her maiden at Delaware last July, they tried her against tougher in the G2 Adirondack at Saratoga where she finished sixth. After another poor showing in the Sorority Stakes at Monmouth, Bsharpsonata appears to have caught fire. She easily won the 8f Irish Sonnet at Delaware, finished fourth behind Sea Chanter in her first try on turf (yielding) in the Epitome Breeders' Cup Stakes, and followed with two firmer turf wins at 8.5f—the Selima and Tropical Oaks. Her G2 Forward Gal victory at Gulfstream on February 9 was eye-catching, as she came back in the slop to defeat Keep the Peace. And now this…obviously the Kentucky Oaks is the goal, and, boy, would that make me happy! I only made 1 future wager on the Oaks in Pool 1—on Bsharpsonata—and she closed at 30-1!

It was a good day ‘capping for me, as I just love Aqueduct on Sundays! In addition to a couple nice WPS bets, I hit two $1 trifectas—in race 5, Smoke’n Review, Rushbuckler and Methodtomymadness paid $75, while in race 9, longshot Statesman, Remorse, and Vikrant paid out $317, the most I’ve won since last Kentucky Oaks day! Yippee! God bless New York :)

Oh boy, you gotta love those $300 trifectas! Congratulations!

Do you ever get down to Delaware Park? It's about 2 hours from me and you're the first of the TBA bloggers I think I've seen mention it. I took some of my first lumps there and it will always be special to me.
