Bsharp

Sloppy track at Churchill for the Oaks, and I’m sticking with Bsharpsonata for the win, with Proud Spell and Little Belle in the mix—a reversal of the Ashland. I wouldn’t be surprised if Awesome Chic comes in the money either; even though she’s never run in slop, she has the highest wet track Tomlinson (436) of any filly in the field, and I like her gusty style. My two Oaks Futures wagers for the Oaks were on Bsharpsonata (30-1) in Pool 1, and Awesome Chic (26-1) in Pool 3, so I’ll be happy if either comes home the winner. Derby selections later…

Let me just add, it sucks that I’m sitting home in front of my computer watching the races on Twinspires, and I can’t bet the undercard! Oh, the agony! Every handicapper should have a specialty and mine is off-tracks. Exactly a year ago, on another Churchill yielding turf I hit my biggest score to date, nearly $800 on a $1 tri box. I was hoping for similar action today, but once again the powers that be in horse racing shoot themselves in the foot. Other than the Oaks and Derby days, I rarely bet Churchill—believe me, nothing will inspire me to do so more in the future now.

UPDATE: Well, my little girl went to the early lead, but couldn't withstand the late charge by Proud Spell who Gabriel Saez rode to perfection. Little Belle got second, while Pure Clan took third (ruining my tri); Bsharpsonata finished fifth. :(

I also liked Bsharp, but she just couldn't get the distance Friday.

Frustrating is a good word for Twinspires right now. Not only could I not bet the undercard at CD, but I was watching the horses approach the gate at River Downs and was told they weren't racing.

It's a mess.
