Friday Keeneland Results

Keeneland’s Spring Meet finished today, and I finally hit a big one—won $118.09 playing the 10 cent superfecta in the fourth race, with Icu Later, Dixie Dahlin, Royal Dazzle and La Bomba. Yeah! In the first race, Yayi was scratched and odds-on favorite Racing Quality showed nothing in finishing sixth. The only previous starter, Sky Mom took the win, and Steve Asmussen’s other entry Dubit finished just behind. Miss Mesa and C.J.’s Leelee completed the superfecta. In race six, Edgar Prado brought Criminologist home for the win, with Makderah, longshot Birdie Sets Sail, and Nunnery completing the superfecta. Ballymore Lady was scratched, and Natural Beauty and Scarlet Butterfly never fired, while Essential Edge lost the lead at the half to finish sixth. In race 8, I nearly had it. I boxed the 3-4-5-6, and at the last minute put $2 on the 7 to show…I should have included the 7 in the super, because it finished 6-5-4-7, and High Cotton (3) finished sixth behind Vicarage. In the Elkhorn, Jazil hated the grass, and finished dead last. I played one super with him, and another without, but still didn’t get the right mix. I did have Ascertain who won, and second place Always First, but longshots Drilling for Oil and Transduction Gold both threw me for a loop. I avoided Ramazutti (correctly), but Bee Charmer disappointed and favorite Cloudy’s Knight finished fifth. In the final race, Lattice finished second and Pleasant Strike third, but the winner Inca King came out of nowhere, as did fourth place finisher Touchdown Peyton. Get Rich Quick and Crusader Rabbit finished back in the pack.

I can't wait for the Fall meet--October 5 to 27!

Congrats on hitting the superfecta, it's like catching lightning in a bottle !

It is! You couldn't wipe the smile off my face all afternoon. I know it sounds silly, but it's the first "big" win I've ever had. I once won $53 on a horse called Eight Madison Road at Philly Park, but this was better since the challenge is picking the top four. How can people prefer a "one-armed bandit" over betting horses?!

Congrats, Valerie! I really enjoy the opportunity to box a super for $2.40 as compared to the $6.00 to box a trifecta. Sadly, nearly all of my supers at Keeneland had 3 of the top four!
