And The Nominations Are In...

...for the July 4 G3 Jersey Shore Breeders Cup Stakes at Monmouth, and guess who is nominated? Yep, my favorite speedball, Southwestern Heat! However, there are some other notables too, including (the complete list): Bustin Stones, Cherokee Country (who beat him in the June 11 Rumson), EZ Warrior, Elite Squadron, Hobbitontherocks, Idiot Proof, Majestic Emblem, Northern Duke, Phone Home, Principle Secret, Sir Five Star, Spin Master, West Coast Flyer (second in the Rumson), Xchanger, and—the one I am most concerned about—Teuflesberg. However, it was previously reported that Jamie Sanders was shipping Teuflesberg to Calder for the July 7 Carry Back Stakes, so we will see if he really shows up at Monmouth. Otherwise, this looks to be a rematch of the Rumson, and, boy, I would love to see Southwestern Heat maintain that blazing speed for the entire 6 furlongs :)

I love watching Southwestern Heat run just because I loved his mom. Here's hoping he can stretch is speed another furlong. Speed is dangerous at Monmouth as Lawyer Ron learned yesterday.

Why would you be worried about Teuflesberg? Did you see the extremely weak field he beat on Belmont day. He can do ok at 7 furlongs but he can't beat any kind of field going long.

True, anon, about Teuflesberg's distance limitations, but the Jersey City Breeders' Cup is only six furlongs, which could be a good distance for him.
